Sir: -
I am directed by Earl Curzon of edleston
to aclmowledge the receipt of your letter No. 47799 of the 20th instant and to observe in reply that, if and when the Treaty of Peace with Germany enters into force as between Germany and China fer subjects will presumably, if Chinese legislation allows, retum
to the latter country. It would appear to be a matter
for the Government of Hong Kong to decide whether they
desire to exclude such persons from passing through
the Colony,
*
Lord Curzon will be glad to obtain the
views of His Majesty's Minister at Pekin, on the question
put in your letter if this is desired.
I am,
sir,
The Under Secretary of State
Colonial Office.
Your most obedient,
humble Servant,
Gerald Spicer
